The Tesla Memorial Society from New York proposed to officials of the United Nations to proclaim, July 10th, Nikola Tesla's birthday as an international "Nikola Tesla Day". This day will signify a day of science, progress and brotherhood among all nations and religions more

New York to host Tesla memorial conference
The conference, entitled "Why Tesla Matters" - which will also include a presentation of awards - is organized by the U.S.-based Tesla Science Foundation.
The participants will be addressed by Chairman of the United Nations General Assembly Vuk Jeremić, President and Founder of Tesla Science Foundation Nikola Lončar, Honorary Chairman David Vujić, and Executive Director Marina Schwabic.
The conference will also include lectures, presentations, discussions and documented evidence of increasing interest in Tesla.
The goal of the conference is to bring together world intellectuals, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs in the area of alternative energy, innovation experts, artists, writers and a great number of Tesla's devotees.
The conference will be held in the New Yorker Hotel, where Tesla spent the last ten years of his life and passed away on January 7, 1943.
The event will kick off with a gala reception, and presentation of Tesla awards in the areas of science, spirit, financing and commitment to the promotion of Tesla's name and legacy.
This year's winner of the Tesla Spirit Awards is, among others, Serbia's permanent mission to the UNESCO Memory of the World Program.
The award will be posthumously presented to Ambassador Dragoljub Najman.
The winners of the award also include the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, Ljubo Vujović, Tesla Memorial Society of New York, and others.
